SANCTUARY OF LOYOLA, GETARIA, ZARAUZ AND SAN SEBASTIAN

Activity: day trip to the Sanctuary of Loyola, Getaria, Zarauz and San Sebastian from Bilbao

Frequency: every Tuesday during the period between 1st January 2019 and 31st March 2020 (excepting the following blackout dates: 1st January, 24th December, 25th December and 31st December)

Departure time: 08:40AM at Carlton Hotel (2 Federico Moyúa Sq). Please, be there 10 minutes before with your voucher in order to check-in

Arrival time and point: at 06:00PM approximately back in Bilbao city centre

Duration: 9 hours approximately

The group will depart from Bilbao at 08:40 AM. We will head directly into the heart of the Gipuzkoa province, passing by the villages of Eibar, Elgoibar, Azkoitia and Loyola.

We will stop at Loyola to visit its Sanctuary of harmonic proportions, built between the XVII & XVIII centuries. We will not left this town until we have visited its spectacular Basilica and the tower-house where Saint Ignatius was born.

We continue the route passing by Azpeitia and getting to the coast by Zumaia, until we get to Getaria. We will visit this beautiful fishing town located in the fertile slopes of the mountain. During this visit we will see the arch of Catrapona, a medieval passageway beneath the church of San Salvador that dates back to the XV century, and a chapel for sailors which is a Gothic gem. Also, we will not miss its fishing port, its narrow streets nor its typical bars and restaurants.

Then we continue the trip passing by Zarauz, which has been a tourist destination since the nineteenth century.

Once in San Sebastian we will start a full panoramic tour including the views of the beach of la Concha and the great views from above Mount Igeldo. Afterwards we will enjoy a walking tour into the old town.

The group will be given some free time for lunch. Our guide will provide suggestions and possibilities of restaurants. After having lunch, we will return back to Bilbao to arrive there in the middle of the afternoon.
